Scholarships
NEHC encourages Junior Riders to pursue education beyond the high school level and awards a $500. Educational Scholarship to Junior riders in the following four equitation disciplines and the $1000 Marilyn Childs Scholarship.
- Hunter Seat Pleasure Equitation
- Western/Reining Seat
- Saddle Seat Equitation
- Hunter Seat Equitation
- Marilyn Childs $1000 NEHC Scholarship
- Claymaker Memorial Thoroughbred Versatility Award
Candidates for the award must have qualified for the medal in year of final and be attending school. Scholarships awards will be presented at the Finals for each discipline.
Selection will be based on the ability and aptitude for pursuing education beyond the high school level, community service, leadership and achievement with horses; less on financial need. Previous applicants not awarded the scholarship may reapply.
If in the opinion of the Scholarship Committee, no applicant meets the standards as set by the Committee, the scholarship funds will be held within the NEHC Scholarship Account.
NEHC will furnish each committee with a certificate to be presented to the NEHC scholarship winner, to be completed by the recipient and sent to the Administration Office with a copy of their transcripts, for payment to the recipient upon completing their 1st semester in Post Secondary School. The scholarship will expire in 5 years unless a letter of intent is received at the NEHC administration office.

Donations to our scholarship fund can be made on our membership form/application when submitted via snail mail or you can donate via our online donation form and specify “scholarships.”
We do have a new box for making donations to NEHC. These donations are tax deductible.
All money received for donations will go towards our scholarships.

Marilyn Childs $1000 NEHC Scholarship
NEHC’s Scholarship Committee presents this prestigious award to a Junior Rider to encourage the participant to pursue education beyond the high school level. Marilyn Childs was one of the original founders of NEHC. She passed away in 2017, but was an advocate of higher learning.
These are the links to the Marilyn Childs $1000 Scholarship package. You can print out and send back to Camille Pepin by October 1st of the current show season. Scholarship will be awarded at the NEHC Banquet in January.

Claymaker Memorial Thoroughbred Versatility Award
To be awarded to the Jockey Club registered Thoroughbred with the most overall points throughout the season in all classes/divisions except Equitation.
The goal of this award is to recognize the most versatile Thoroughbred who can do everything from Pleasure to Jumpers.

Scholarships from William Woods University
William Woods University will be giving scholarships to each of the medals at the finals. Hunt Seat Pleasure Equitation, Saddle Seat, Junior Western Seat.
