The gradual opening phases of our states are about to begin

May 28, 2020

To our members, exhibitors, and show managers,

As June 1st approaches, the gradual opening phases of our states are about to begin. The goal is to get back to some kind of normal without jeopardizing the health of our families, friends, and communities.

Please be aware that our states will open in phases and different timelines. We all are looking forward to having a safe and healthy return to the show ring.

To ensure this happens, the NEHC Covid Committee has put together a protocol for our NEHC (non-USEF) competitions. It is composed of the NEHC Covid guidelines, a Competition Licensing Agreement, and a Waiver to be signed by all individuals attending the event. All these forms may be accessed on our website.

It is extremely important that all show organizers adhere to their own state’s regulations and guidelines.

We are asking the individual state horseman’s associations to help us monitor when each state will allow competitions to start, as the dates and phases seem to change day-to-day. In fairness to those following their government’s rules, all shows running before an opening date will only be NEHC affiliated if they receive a written letter of approval from that state’s governing agency.

I want to thank the NEHC Covid Committee for their time and effort in putting together this protocol. It has been a major disruption to our sport and we are all anxious to resume somewhat normal activities.

As the year progresses, these protocols may change as we learn more about handling this virus.

As always, stay safe and healthy, and continue to act responsibly for yourself and your loved ones.

Diane Monks McDonald
NEHC President

Rhode Island – no shows until the End of June – With Phase 3 – Unless special permission is granted from State of RI

I will list other states once I have information.
